What is National Conference?

National Selection Conference (National Session) in Ukraine occurs once a year and aims to select its best participants for the Ukrainian delegation, which will represent EYP Ukraine at International Sessions. National Sessions are held in all 35 national committees of EYP. National Selection Conference usually lasts 4-5 days, during which delegates work in committees discussing political, economic, social and cultural issues that are on agenda of the relevant committees of the European Parliament. National Sessions usually gather 100-130 participants, together with international committee chairs, journalists and board of the session

 

Just like this the 8^th National Selection Conference will be held between the 5^th and the 9^th of February in the wonderful city of Cherkasy. The general topic is “Europe for the people, by the people”. The delegates are divided between 8 committees (working groups), and will work on a specific topic. Each committee will be lead by two experienced chairpersons (moderators), who will help the committee to achieve the results.

 

The structure of the Conference.

 

Official Part

 

The firs day will be devoted to Teambuilding. First altogether, then within committees delegates will play different games, suggested by a chairperson. They will be fun, creative, ice-breaking, problem solving and trust. As a result, after the first day, the committee will become a bound team, where each of the delegates know each other well enough, trust each other and do not afraid to voice their opinion.

 

Then there will be two days of a Committee Work. Since each Committee will have different topics, delegates will work within their committees on the Resolution. Resolution is a document, where the Committee states the problems within the discussed topic and the possible solutions.

 

Afterwards, there will be a General Assembly. General Assembly is the concluding part of each EYP session when the resolutions produced by the committees are presented, debated and voted for. This is the last of the Conference.

 

Unofficial Part

 

Eurovillage. The evening, when the representatives of different countries present their national cuisine and costumes.

 

Euroconcert. The concert, where each willing participant can perform a dance/song/play.

 

Theme Party. Since deer became unofficial symbol of the Conference, everyone should have on something deer-related.

 

Farewell Party. A theme of the Farewell Party is boogie-woogie («Стиляги»). Dress as bright as you can and impress everyone with your constume!
